G-TEC Expands to Strengthen Capacity and Enhance Global Care

Expert TB Council Adds 22 New Members

The Global Technical Expert Council (G-TEC), an initiative of the PeerLINC Knowledge Hub, has announced a significant expansion, welcoming 22 new members from several additional countries. This development broadens the council's collective expertise, enabling it to provide more comprehensive guidance to healthcare providers worldwide. The expanded council met on May 13, 2025 to welcome new members and refine strategies and approaches to enhance PeerLINC’s capacity to support and advise on queries and challenges relating to the management of especially complex cases of drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB).

Established by PeerLINC, with support from TB Alliance, G-TEC was launched in March 2025 to further support countries in adopting and optimizing improved DR-TB regimens. By addressing complex case management queries and fostering knowledge-sharing, G-TEC aims to improve patient outcomes and strengthen TB care strategies in high-burden regions.

The recent inclusion of experts from Vietnam, Niger, Germany, South Africa, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Nigeria, Brazil, Cambodia, Peru, Tanzania, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Rwanda bring diverse clinical and programmatic experiences to the council. These additions are expected to enhance G-TEC's capacity to offer tailored technical assistance, reflecting experience pertaining to a wider array of healthcare settings and challenges.

"The expansion of G-TEC underscores our commitment to a collaborative, global approach in combating DR-TB," said Dr. Eden Mendoza-Hisey, Head of PeerLINC. "Equipping G-TEC with experiences and insights from a broader spectrum of countries will allow us to better support healthcare providers around the world in delivering effective, people-centered TB care."

G-TEC's growth aligns with PeerLINC's mission to accelerate the implementation of new TB technologies, including the WHO-recommended six-month, all-oral BPaL/M regimens for DR-TB treatment, as well as with PeerLINC’s commitment to facilitating peer-to-peer information and experience sharing.

With its expanded membership, G-TEC is poised to play a pivotal role in advancing global efforts to eradicate DR-TB, ensuring that more patients have access to effective treatments and improved healthcare outcomes.
