PeerLINC Launches the Global Technical Expert Council (G-TEC) to Strengthen DR-TB Care and Management Worldwide
The PeerLINC, Knowledge Hub, established by TB Alliance with the Tropical Disease Foundation (TDF), Philippines, and in close collaboration with the Department of Health, Philippines, recently launched The Global Technical Expert Council (G-TEC). This initiative brings together leading clinicians and TB experts from around the world to provide scientific, clinical, and programmatic guidance to national TB programs (NTPs) and treating physicians, including those in the private sector.
G-TEC serves as a global network designed to support countries in adopting and optimizing novel drug-resistant (DR-TB) regimens. By responding to complex case management queries, addressing technical challenges, and fostering knowledge-sharing, G-TEC aims to improve patient outcomes and strengthen TB care strategies in high-burden regions.

The council officially commenced its activities with its inaugural meeting held on March 27-28 in Makati City, Philippines, where experts from India, Indonesia, and the Philippines gathered for interactive sessions and case discussions. Facilitated by PeerLINC with support from TB Alliance and TDF, the meeting focused on innovative treatment strategies, clinical best practices, and collaborative approaches to managing people with DR-TB receiving BPaL/M regimens. Participants also established G-TEC’s Standard Operating Procedures, laying the foundation for a coordinated global effort in DR-TB care.
“The launch of G-TEC represents a significant step forward in ensuring that healthcare providers worldwide have access to expert guidance and the latest scientific insights for treating drug-resistant TB,” said Dr. Eden Mendoza-Hisey, Head of PeerLINC, “This initiative reflects the values of PeerLINC, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange to empower national TB programs and healthcare professionals to implement the most effective, people-centered TB treatments.”
As G-TEC expands, it will continue to convene experts from different regions, providing ongoing technical assistance to countries seeking to improve their DR-TB treatment approaches. With its global reach and expert-driven model, G-TEC is poised to play a pivotal role in accelerating access to cutting-edge TB care and improving health outcomes worldwide.
