PeerLINC Expands Training Portfolio with New Modules for National TB Programs

PeerLINC continues to strengthen the global tuberculosis response with the rollout of new training modules that align with the World Health Organization’s most recent TB guidelines. Developed for National TB Programs (NTPs), implementers, and health workers, these new modules address critical priorities from new short all-oral regimens for drug-resistant TB (DR-TB)  to the co-management of TB and diabetes, ensuring national teams are prepared to scale up evidence-based interventions without delay.

With an increasing number of shorter DR-TB regimens available–some with multiple variations–it’s important to provide accurate guidance for the selection and implementation of available regimens. PeerLINC now offers a 6-month BDLLfxC regimen training module for multidrug-resistant (MDR-TB) patients who are not eligible for BPaLM or BPaL. It walks learners through eligibility, administration, and the monitoring practices informed by the BEAT-TB trial.

Another recently added module focuses on modified 9-month all-oral regimens, providing clarity on who can benefit from these regimens and how they compare with existing options. Special considerations for children, pregnant women, and patients with co-morbidities are built in, reflecting real-world program needs.

Understanding the importance of prevention, PeerLINC has also added a TB preventive treatment module, which equips participants with up-to-date knowledge on what preventative regimens are available, eligibility criteria, and guidance on how countries can strengthen their preventive care strategies.

Finally, the TB and diabetes module addresses one of TB’s most common and threatening comorbidities. It offers practical guidance on screening, diagnosis, and management, reinforcing the importance of integrated care to provide the best outcomes and patient experiences.

“These modules are not stand-alone downloads. They form part of tailor-fit trainings that we design in partnership with national programs. Depending on a country’s priorities, any of our trainings can be delivered remotely, in-country, or even through study delegations to the Philippines. The goal is always the same: to strengthen local teams with the right knowledge, at the right time.”

These newly available modules are offered in addition to PeerLINC’s well-established training programs for the implementation of BPaL/ BPaLM-based regimens for DR-TB, enhancing the comprehensiveness of PeerLINC’s offerings for country partners.

The modules may be included upon request when PeerLINC co-develops trainings with country partners, ensuring that each engagement responds directly to what programs need most–whether that means preparing healthcare staff for a new regimen or enhancing co-morbidity management skills. In addition, PeerLINC will be organizing single-topic webinars based on these modules, open to all health care providers. These webinars will provide national teams and practitioners a way to engage with focused content in a more accessible, open format.

Ministries of Health and National TB Programs interested in incorporating these modules into their capacity-building efforts are encouraged to contact the PeerLINC team at info@peerlinc.org. Upon request, PeerLINC will work closely with program managers to design and deliver a training format that responds to country priorities–whether through in-country sessions, remote learning, or other tailored approaches.
